Vacation 2008, Part 2

We headed east from Ohio, down through West Virginia, and into Virginia. I had hopes of valuable, historical enrichment. What we got was not so high-falutin' as all that, but it was fun.

We visited Monticello, and the kids practiced quill writing (a very important skill).
Things really got exciting in Williamsburg...
Okay, it was a false alarm (don't worry, Alex is pretending). Besides, it rained so much in eastern Virginia that no fire would have had a chance.

We tried Busch Gardens, but we went home after 4 hours of rain. We did manage one awesome water ride before the thunder started, and that was in no way pointless.
Colonial Williamsburg was a unique trip into the past, and the kids really did like it some. The best part was probably when we toured the Randolph House and Alex got to pretend to be Peyton Randolph for the whole tour group.

And then there was this...

Missy used some money Pap slipped her back in Ohio to buy a Barbie. She has had them before, but she didn't love them. Now, that is all changing. And that is at least as significant as any of this history stuff, if you ask me.
