Once upon a time, we bought a car. Bill Clinton was president. Forrest Gump and The Lion King were big. I couldn't even drive a standard, so Kurt taught me in a big parking lot one day. And then I drove this car to interview for my first teaching job. We still lived in an apartment, and it was a long time ago.
Up and down the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway, usually taking me to and from work or helping Alex fall asleep.
On vacations down to North Carolina...

This car made many journeys...
Back and forth from West Haven, Connecticut to Forty Fort, Pennsylvania many times.

and up to Maine.

Then we installed an air conditioner and took it with us to Carthage, Missouri in 2000. It was middle-aged by then, but we had no idea how it would keep going and going and going. Kurt used it to commute to work for 9 years. Until, during one such commute -
199,127 miles. June 18th 2009. It is still driveable but deserves its rest. What a car!
(Kurt is fine. His new Corolla should arrive Tuesday.)
